Product Groups

Last updated 3 months ago

Premium Feature

Product Groups are available on Business plans and up

Product Groups allow you to sell 2+ distinct groups of products on your paywall. You can use this feature to separate Monthly and Annual products, or separate products by entitlement tier such as Basic and Pro.

Turning on Product Groups

  1. Click into the Capabilities tab

  2. Find 'Product Groups'

  3. Click 'Add'

  4. A toggle component will be added to the top of your paywall, with 2 group options

  5. Add a product group, if desired.

  6. Change the names of the product groups, if desired.

  7. Add products to each product group

  8. Use the Product Group Selector in the preview bar to preview your paywall in both group states.

Modes

The Paywall Builder supports 2 modes for your product group: "Toggle Between Groups" and "Display all Groups".

You can switch between modes by going into Capabilities, and clicking "Settings" under the Product Group item.

TV paywalls only support Display all Groups mode

Active Product Group Conditions

You must be in "Toggle Between Groups" mode to use Active Product Group Conditions

You may want to show different paywall content based on the currently selected group.

  1. Add a Condition component

  2. Change the Visibility rules to 'Product Group is name of group' (make sure you have turned on the Product Group capability first)

  3. Add text or another component inside the Condition

  4. Preview the Product Group state in the preview bar to make sure your logic is working

Managing Product Groups

By default, 2 groups named Basic and Pro are added to your paywall. You may want to change these names.

Click the Product Group Selector in the Preview bar and select 'Edit' to edit the names of your groups.

The names you use for the product groups are used in the Toggle component

Import Product Groups

Available only on Enterprise plans

Available only on paywalls where an unlimited number of product groups is allowed.

You can import up to 75 product groups at once using a CSV file.

The CSV file must have 2 columns:

  • Display Name

  • Reference ID

After creating product groups, you will still need to add products to each group.

Default Product Group

When you are in Toggle Between Groups mode, one product group must always be selected on your paywall. By default, the second group (Pro) is marked as default. You can change this behavior by marking a different group as Default in the Product Group editor.
